The Only Flow Chart You'll Every Need For Genre Categorization
Over at Nicola Griffith's blog, she discusses genre. I never really like the idea of genre. Yes, it's useful to have tools and tropes to use when you're writing, say a story with magic, or a story about falling in love. But genre has always been more about bookstore maps than anything else. Still, it's interesting: how we define each category of writing.: how just a few changed elements can change whole labels, yet how everything is in fact very similar.
