According to the UK's Bookseller, "Amazon has reportedly applied for a patent that suggests future users of the website may have to pay to preview excerpts of books before deciding to buy it."
However, according to Jeff Bezo, the amount paid for the preview might be taken off of the purchase price of the book. Other than that, it's almost exactly like going to your brick-and-mortar bookstore and flipping through the pages of an obscure work published by a small publishing house! *wink*
Jeff Bezo, first there was the e-book price wars and then taking away Buy buttons, and now charging to look inside books! What will you think of next?
